2017 ANNUAL REPORT

Dear Friend,

In 2017, Penfield Children’s Center celebrated its 50th anniversary. For the past half century, Penfield staff have worked tirelessly to help more than 30,000 children reach their full potential. As we reflect on the last year – and this significant milestone – we are reminded of the amazing commitment of people like you to make this work possible.

You only turn 50 once, and we did our best to make it count. From a partnership with Summerfest and 88Nine Radio Milwaukee to a golden anniversary event that included many of our visionary founders and civic leaders, we celebrated this occasion with several of our key community partners.

But perhaps more important was the commitment of our staff, continuing their tireless efforts to ensure our children continue to reach age-appropriate milestones. Milestones we celebrate at Penfield every day.

In 2017, our organization realized several highlights. A couple items of note included the following:

  • Renewed our partnership with Kohl’s, securing a three-year commitment to support the Kohl’s Building Blocks Program.
  • Concluded our 50th anniversary with a record-breaking 22nd annual Croquet Ball.
  • Connected more than 400 families in Milwaukee, Ozaukee and Waukesha counties with long-term support programs.
  • Successfully launched the state’s first fully-integrated school-based mental health clinic at Penfield Montessori Academy. An expansion of our partnership with Marquette University, the Behavior Clinic at Penfield Montessori provides trauma-informed services to our K3 through 1st grade students.

Throughout the last 50 years, our staff have changed the lives of countless families living in our city. None of this would have been possible without the heartfelt generosity of our donors and more than 10,000 hours of service from more than 1,000 volunteers.

Together, we can make a difference in the lives of Milwaukee children.

Thank you for being a part of our family at Penfield Children’s Center and cheers to the next 50 years.

Sincerely,

Christine P. Holmes
